You gotta go!!!
This was a great experience! The views were spectacular! It was snowing and a little icy, but the short hike was great! The restaurant was crowded, but the hot chocolate hit the spot.
Beyond words… unparalleled views!
The view from the top of Nesaksla will be one of the great highlights of our journey through Norway. The ride itself is fun (and fast) but the 360 panorama at the summit was far more brilliant than we expected!
Wonderful in Winter
We went on the Gondolla in mid December when everywhere was covered in snow. It was spectacular. Had Hot Chocolate and Cinnamon Bun in the cafe, which has fantastic views over the mountains.
Frequently asked
questions
Of course! Your four legged companion can ride the gondola as a VIP passenger – free of charge. You may also bring your skis or bike – free of charge.
If you have a valid international or Norwegian accompinying certificate, you may bring an assistant with you free of charge.
The Romsdalen Gondola is specially adapted for you with a wheelchair. The fjord station itself is built into the ground, so you can get straight from street level and into the gondola cabin, completely without stairs, elevator or other challenges. The same applies to the mountain station, where Eggen Restaurant is located on the same level. Eggen Restaurant also has an HC toilet with plenty of space.
In addition, we have built a universal ramp of approx. 200 meters which means that you get all the way to the top of Nesaksla with a wheelchair.
The gondola runs every full and half hour within the opening hours. If there is a queue or large groups, the gondola runs continuously at intervals of approx. 8 minutes.
We take infection control seriously, and always follow national guidelines when these apply. At present, there are no requirements for face masks in the cabin, but it is possible to buy face masks at the ticket window if this is desired. You will find dispensers with disinfectant in several places in the facility.
Eggen Restaurant also has the capacity to comply with the 1-meter rule, and implements this in periods when this is a recommended measure from the government.
Groups of 10 people or less can book a table at the restaurant themselves. Book here. Groups of more than 10 people are asked to contact booking@romsdalen.no .
You can take the Romsdalen Gondola to Nesaksla and follow the path down for approx. 15 minutes. You can also walk from Åndalsnes centre and follow the path up for approx. 1.5 hours. Once you have arrived at Rampestreken, you can walk an extra 15 minutes up to the mountain station, and head back down by the gondola.
You can also go to Rampestreken in the winter, but then it is recommended with good spikes or crampons.
Each cabin is designed to carry 45 people plus one driver. For the best possible experience, we have chosen to drive a maximum of 35 people in each cabin.
It is not possible to cancel gondola tickets. If you do not have the opportunity to use it yourself, you can give it to a friend, as tickets are not linked to the person (with the exception of annual passes and day passes) and are valid for a long period of time. Read more about this in our Terms and Conditions .
There is a ticket machine at the Romsdalsgondolen mountain station. There is no serviced ticket office, but our gondola staff is on hand to assist you should you need assistance.
The route to Romsdalseggen begins in Vengedalen in Isfjorden, and ends at the gondola station where you can take the gondola down. It is not recommended to walk the opposite way due to the narrow path.
